An individual can have a career plan at any age; more and more young people are being recommended to have a career focus in order for them to plan. Whilst a career focus is usually just something that an individual holds, a career focus can also be gained through the use of trained professionals. Foe example a career advisor may provide an individual with a career focus.

In many cases people will just have a career focus, this quite simply means that their career is important to them and they are aware of what they want to do in the future.
